Ways to IMPRESS EVERYONE AROUND YOU

Diposting oleh Unknown di 13.30 0 komentar
.

I am constantly looking at ways to make myself more authentic and true to myself. Here are some Ways to impress everyone around you without being materialistic.

Be authentic.  Be true to yourself. – Judy Garland once said, “Always be a first rate version of yourself instead of a second rate version of somebody else.”  Live by this statement.  There is no such thing as living in someone else’s shoes.  The only shoes you can occupy are your own.  If you aren’t being yourself, you aren’t truly living – you’re merely existing.  And ask yourself this:  If you don’t like who you really are, why should I like you?

Care about people. – If you don’t genuinely care about people, they won’t care about you.  The more you help others, the more they will want to help you.  Love and kindness begets love and kindness.  And so on and so forth.

Make others feel good. – People will rarely remember what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel.

Be honest and take ownership of your actions. – Nobody likes a liar.  In the long-run, the truth always reveals itself anyway.  Either you own up to your actions or your actions will ultimately own you.

Smile often. – Everyone likes the sight of a genuine smile.  Think about how you feel when a complete stranger looks into your eyes and smiles.  Suddenly they don’t seem like a stranger anymore, do they?

Respect elders.  Respect minors.  Respect everyone. – There are no boundaries or classes that define a group of people that deserve to be respected.  Treat everyone with the same level of respect you would give to your grandfather and the same level of patience you would have with your baby brother.  People will notice your kindness.

Address people by their name. – People love the sight and sound of their own name.  So make sure you learn to remember names.  Use them courteously in both oral and written communication.

Say “Please” and “Thank you.” – These two simple phrases make demands sound like requests, and they inject a friendly tone into serious conversations.  Using them can mean the difference between sounding rude and sounding genuinely grateful.

Excel at what you do. – I am impressed by great guitarists, writers, bloggers, painters, motivational speakers, internet entrepreneurs, computer engineers, mothers, fathers, athletes, etc.  There is only one thing they all have in common: They excel at what they do.  There’s no point in doing something if you aren’t going to do it right.  Excel at your work and excel at your hobbies.  Develop a reputation for yourself, a reputation for consistent excellence.

Help others when you’re able. – In life, you get what you put in.  When you make a positive impact in someone else’s life, you also make a positive impact in your own life.  Do something that’s greater than you – something that helps someone else to be happy or to suffer less.  Everyone values the gift of unexpected assistance and those who supply it.

Put a small personal touch on everything you do. – Think of it as branding your work.  If you’re funny, add a little humor into it.  If you’re an artist, decorate it with illustrations.  Whatever you do, customise it with a little personal touch of ‘you.’

Over-deliver on all of your promises. – Some people habitually make promises they are just barely able to fulfill.  They promise perfection and deliver mediocrity.  If you want to boost your personal value in the eyes of others, do the exact opposite.  Slightly under-sell your capabilities so that you’re always able to over-deliver.  It will seem to others like you’re habitually going above and beyond the call of duty.

Get organised. – How can you get anything accomplished if you aren’t organised?  You can’t.  Make a regular habit of organising your living space and working space.

Do your research and ask clarifying questions. – Don’t be that clueless dude in the room who just nods like he knows what’s going on.  Prepare yourself by doing research ahead of time.  And if something still doesn’t make sense to you, ask questions.  The people involved will respect your desire to understand the material.

Share knowledge and information with others. – When you can, be a resource to those around you.  If you have access to essential information, don’t hoard it.  Share it openly.

Be positive and focus on what’s right. – Everything that happens in life is neither good nor bad.  It just depends on your perspective.  And no matter how it turns out, it always ends up just the way it should.  Either you succeed or you learn something.  So stay positive, appreciate the pleasant outcomes, and learn from the rest.  Your positivity will rub off on everyone around you.

Listen intently to what others have to say. – Eyes focused, ears tuned, mobile phone off.  In a world that can’t move fast enough, someone who can find time to listen to others is always appreciated.

Be faithful to your significant other. – Sustained fidelity in a long-term intimate relationship is not only impressive, it creates a healthy foundation for everything else you do.

Learn to appreciate and love Mother Nature. – Those who truly appreciate and love the natural world surrounding us typically exhibit the same high regard for all humanity.  It’s a positive way to live, and it’s something people notice.

Invest time, energy and money in yourself every day. – When you invest in yourself, you can never lose, and over time you will change the trajectory of your life.  You are simply the product of what you know.  The more time, energy and money you spend acquiring pertinent knowledge, the more control you have over your life and the more valuable you will be to everyone around you.

Perform random acts of kindness on a regular basis. – Pay for a stranger’s coffee in line at Starbucks.  Buy the office receptionist flowers just to say, “Thank you.”  Help an elderly lady with her groceries.  There’s nothing more rewarding than putting smiles on the faces around you.

Compliment people who deserve it. – Go out of your way to personally acknowledge and complement the people who have gone out of their way to shine.  Everybody likes to hear that their efforts are appreciated.

Speak clearly and make eye contact. – Most people have a very low tolerance for dealing with people they can’t understand.  Mystery does not fuel strong relationships and impressiveness.  Also, there’s little doubt that eye contact is one of the most captivating forms of personal communication.  When executed properly, eye contact injects closeness into human interaction.

Make yourself available and approachable. – If people cannot get a hold of you, or have trouble approaching you, they will forget about you.  Your general availability and accessibility to others is extremely important to them.  Always maintain a positive, tolerant attitude and keep an open line of communication to those around you.

Be self-sufficient. – Freedom is the greatest gift.  Self-sufficiency is the greatest freedom.  And self-sufficiency is quite impressive too.   In the business world, it’s one of the primary dreams that inspire people to give-up their day jobs to pursue entrepreneurship.

Exploit the resources you do have access to. – The average person is usually astonished when they see a physically handicapped person show intense signs of emotional happiness.  How could someone in such a restricted physical state be so happy?  The answer rests in how they use the resources they do have.  Stevie Wonder couldn’t see, so he exploited his sense of hearing into a passion for music, and he now has 25 Grammy Awards to prove it.

Be a part of something you believe in. – This could be anything.  Some people take an active role in their local city council, some find refuge in religious faith, some join social clubs supporting causes they believe in, and others find passion in their careers.  In each case the psychological outcome is the same.  They engage themselves in something they strongly believe in.  This engagement brings happiness and meaning into their lives.  It’s hard not to be impressed by someone who’s passionate about what they’re doing.

Stand up for your beliefs without flaunting them. – Yes, it is possible to stand up for your beliefs without foisting them down someone else’s throat.  Discuss your personal beliefs when someone asks about them, but don’t spawn offensive attacks of propaganda on unsuspecting victims.  Stand firm by your values and always keep an open mind to new information.

8 reasons to STOP WAITING FOR APPROVAL

Diposting oleh Unknown di 14.06 0 komentar

writing in the sand

To live carefree and with freedom we need to let go of what we may think others think of ourselves and our situations. we need to step outside breathe in the fresh air and remind ourselves of who we are and who we want to be.  Do not let small minds convince you that your dreams are to big because they are not. We have been given this life to LIVE and we need to stop waiting for approval from others and make ourselves happy to make others HAPPY.

You only get one life to pursue the dreams that make you come alive. – It is better to be failing (and learning) at doing something you love, rather than succeeding at doing something you hate.  So take chances on behalf of what you believe in.  Fail until you succeed.  Make sacrifices and step out beyond the safety of your comfort zone over and over again.  Face your fears with courage and passion.  Keep your word and hold true to your vision until it comes to life.

Someone else’s approval is just another opinion. – Never let someone’s opinion become your reality.  Never sacrifice who you are, or who you aspire to be, because someone else has a problem with it.  Love who you are inside and out, and keep pushing forward.  No one else has the power to make you feel small unless you give them that power.  You are the only one who can create your dreams and happiness

starving.

The only opinion of you that really matters is your own. – In life, the thing that is really hard and really amazing is giving up on the desire to be perfect in the eyes of others, and beginning the journey of becoming your true self.  So let your love flow freely.  Because what you love determines your dreams, your dreams determine your actions, and your actions determine your destiny.

Some people will never give you their approval anyway. – Do not let the negative opinions of others destroy your inner peace.  There are two kinds of people – those who are a drain on your energy and creative force, and those who give you energy and support your creativity, even with the simplest gesture, like a smile.  Avoid the first kind.  Be happy.  Be who you want to be.  If others don’t like it, let them be.  Happiness is a choice – YOUR choice.  Life isn’t about pleasing everyone.

Everyone’s journey and perspective on life is totally different. – Who you are is what makes you extraordinary.  Do not change your unique foundation for anyone.  What lies ahead will always be a bit of a mystery.  Do not be afraid to explore, learn and grow.  Why some things happen will never be certain.  Take it in stride and move forward.  When life pushes you over, stand up and push back even harder.  Where there is a fork in the road and choices to make, make the one your future self will thank you for.

.

Firsthand experience is often necessary for personal growth. – Some life lessons can only be understood by going through them on your own.  Doing so allows you to form your own conclusions based on firsthand experience, rather than someone else’s subjective opinion.  This experience gives you the ability to think more logically and take educated steps in a positive direction.

Your intuition requires no approval. – When it comes to exercising your inner genius, you must try what you want to try, go where you want to go, and follow your own intuition.  Don’t accept false choices.  Don’t let others put a cage around your ideas. If it feels right, take a chance.  Because you never know how absolutely perfect it could turn out to be.  As Steve Jobs once said, “Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own i
nner voice, heart and intuition.  They somehow already know what you truly want to become.  Everything else is secondary.”

Life is too short to wait any longer. – If you knew for certain you had a terminal illness – if you had a very limited time left to live – you wouldn’t waste a minute of it.  Well wake up!  You do have a terminal illness; it’s called ‘life.’  In the grand scheme of things, you don’t have much time left – no one does.  So look around at this gift you’ve been given, as its miracles unfold before your eyes.  And choose to be happy, without approval – or you will never be at all.

I have to admit I seek approval often from others and I often also think what will everyone think of any given situation. Reading this gives me hope that I can achieve anything all I have to do is work hard at achieving my goals. My aim is for a happy life for me and my family. Do you wait for or consider others approval?

how to have HOPE

I am having a few life changes at the moment and I am constantly in and out with my emotions dealing with certain breakdown of a relationship and losing my father this year. I am on an emotional roller coaster thinking where will I be in the next few months or in a year. My life is about to change dramatically. I do have hope but it is going to be a process for all my family and friends.

kindness

In a harsh world with shootings, murders and all the bad there is always hope and people always wanting to help in any situation. To me the world can be harsh and critical, look what they have been saying about Liesel Jones and how she has been scrutinised with how she looks. Hey may I remind all you critical people out there.....Did you make it to the Olympics? Are you swimming for our country? Take a good hard look at yourself before you go around scrutinising others. She is swimming for our country. GO LEISEL!!!!!!!! You show them girl.

Here is some inspiration for hope from Positively Present

Kindness inspires kindness...

Notice kindness in others. With all the negativity in the media, it's can be hard to believe people are actually good. But they are. Look around and identify the kind acts you see. Pay attention to the doors being held, the favors being done, the smiles being shared. Make a list if you can. In every day, there is kindness, goodness -- you just have to look for it. Choosing to notice the good will make you feel hopeful and will remind you that, in spite of the darkness, there are little glimpses of light.

Chanel’s Maison Michel Hats
Be grateful for this life. Cliche as it is, the old "every day is a gift" saying rings with truth. Tragedies remind us of life's uncertainty. We really don't know what day will be our last. Now, before you let that idea bum you out, make the choice to see it in a positive light. The unexpectedness of life should not cause you fear; instead, it should inspire you to be thankful for every day, every moment, you're alive. Each moment is a opportunity and to realize that is to have hope.

♥

Avoid negative-only news.
Most news sources focus p
rimarily on the negative things that have happened over a course of a day. It's important to stay well-informed, but it's just as important not to let the news suck all the hope from your life. If you must watch/read the news, supplement it with some positive news. Seeking out positive news stories and focusing on them will encourage a sense of hopefulness, a belief that goodness really is out there (even if we have to look a little harder for it).
Jumping!!!

Be enthusiastic about life. The more you love about your life, the more hope you'll have. If you enjoy what you do, who you're around, and how you feel about yourself, you'll be much more hopeful when faced with negativity. Make an effort to be enthusiastic about life. Spend time doing what you love. Spend time withpeople you love. The things that matter most to you are the things that will help you embrace hope when times are tough; these are the things that will inspire you to believe in the good.

9 ways to POLISH UP THE DAILY ROUTINE

Diposting oleh Unknown di 15.45 0 komentar

“Life is not made up of minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or years, but of moments. You must experience each one before you can appreciate it.” ―Sarah Breathnach

1. Grocery shopping – set one time a week to go shopping (having planned your meals for the week), do your best to shop at local markets and get to know the venders, making the experience a social encounter, not a robotic chore. Smell the fruit, thump the bread, taste the wine (if they offer this option) and enjoy a store, booth or market’s ambiance.

Birkin. Grocery shopping.

2. Breakfast – Wake up earlier and enjoy a simple, yet flavourful meal that will help you last until lunch. Read your favorite blogs (on your iPad) or peruse your local morning newspaper as you sip your first cup of caffeine.

Sunday Morning...

3. Paying bills – Knowing you have adhered to your budget will make this process even more enjoyable, but each time you sit down, turn on your favorite music, pour a cup of tea, sit in a comfortable chair and gradually, yet proficiently pay your monthly bills and balance your cheque book.

4. Downtime – Love music? Love the nostalgic crackle of a turntable? Why not buy one and play your favourite crooners found on vinyl?

5. Daily Walk – Choose a route that is inspiring – whether it is out in nature or on the sidewalk through a beautiful neighborhood, choose a regular path that revs up your creative mind.

walking

6. Laundry – Whenever you make a bed with clean sheets, take the time to iron the pillowcases, shams and duvet and spritz some lavender linen spray on the pillows to enhance a restful night’s slumber. (Make your own: mix 1 tsp lavender essential oil with 1/4 c. unflavored vodka, then add 3 1/2 cups of water, and pour into a spray bottle)

7. Kitchen Clean-up – Again, include the power of music or talk radio to make the task move along quicker and allow you to either sing along or dance, or learn something.

8. Cleaning House – Each time you clean your home, when complete, treat yourself and your abode to a fresh bouquet of flowers.

9. Beautify Your Work Space – If you have a regular job and a desk area or office, decorate or create a space that is welcoming and well-stocked. Bring in flowers or nature, have a radio or music handy if that is allowable, stash an afternoon snack in your top drawer and include a photo of someone you love on your desk top. In other words, make it inviting.

Thank you to Shannon from The Simply Luxurious Life for making the mundane so special.

12 HAPPY thoughts for TROUBLED TIMES

Diposting oleh Unknown di 13.30 0 komentar
People and circumstances will occasionally break you down.  But if you keep your mind focused, your heart open to possibility, and continue to put one foot in front of the other, you will be able to quickly recover the pieces, rebuild, and come back much stronger than you ever would have been otherwise.
happy happy happy

Here are a few happy thoughts to ponder on those days when the whole world seems like it’s crashing down around you.
Down days are completely normal, and not something you should feel guilty about having.  Happiness is never constant.  Surrendering to your sadness, or whatever negative emotion is trying to come to the surface, does not make you a bad person.  But remember, if you aren’t sincerely thankful for every smile, don’t be totally shocked by every tear.  Keep things in perspective.
When you are at your lowest point, you are open to the greatest positive change.  Happiness is not the absence of problems, but the strength to deal with them.  Strength doesn’t come from what you can do; it comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t do.
laughing

There is a huge difference between giving up and moving on.  Moving on doesn’t mean giving up, but rather accepting that there aresome things that cannot be.  Moving on can mean that you’re making a choice to be happy rather than hurt.  For some folks, good situations last a lifetime, but for many, not knowing when to move on can hold them back forever.
Life rarely turns out exactly the way you want it to, but you still have an opportunity to make it great.  You have to do what you can, with what you have, exactly where you are.  It won’t always be easy, but it will be worth it in the end.  Remember that there is no perfect life, just perfect moments.  And it’s these moments you must cherish; it’s these moments that make the whole journey worthwhile.

Most people ask for happiness on condition, but long-term happiness can only be felt if you don’t set conditions.  Accept life unconditionally. Realize that life balances itself between the ideal and the disappointing.  And the disappointments are just life’s way of saying, “I’ve got something better for you right around the corner.”  So be patient, live life, accept what is, and have a little faith.
Too often, we carry around things from our past that hurt us – regrets, shame, anger, pain, etc.  Don’t let these negative points from the past rob your present happiness.  You had to live though these things in the past, and although unfortunate, they can’t be changed.  But if the only place they live today is in your mind, then let go, move on, and be happy.
i am so excited for beach trips
You can choose to view things differently.  Pick one part of your life that you are unhappy with and look at it from a different point of view.  See the rain as nourishment for future growth.  Consider being alone for awhile to create the solitude you need to hear your inner voice.  Think of your lack of funds as an opportunity to experience the simple things in life.  Right now, you can choose to allow the light to shine in your life.  It is a choice.  Why not allow it?
Once you embrace unpleasant news, not as a negative but as evidence of a need for positive change, you’re learning from it and growing.  Whatever life throws at you, even if it hurts, be strong and fight through it.  Remember, strong walls shake but never collapse.  Life always offers you another chance – it’s called tomorrow.
laughing
When your flaws are stitched together with good intentions, your flaws make you beautiful.  It’s better to be true to yourself and risk being ridiculed by others, than to be false, and miss out on the beauty of being YOU.  Never be bullied into silence.  Never let someone else tell you who you are.  Accept no one’s definition of your life, except your own.
You have the ability to heal yourself.  Just like lava flowing slowly out of a volcano, you must create a healthy outlet for your pain and anger.  It’s important after you’ve been hurt to take some time to think about your pain, and address it calmly and consciously, so you can thwart the possibility of more pain brewing from your own negativity.

There’s a lot of life left to be lived.  The real tragedy in life is not death, but the passion we let die inside of us while we still live.  Remember, troubles from the past cannot define you, destroy you, or defeat you all by themselves.  As long as you keep pushing forward, they can only strengthen you.
You are a work in progress; which means you get there a little at a time, not all at once.  Today is a brand new day – a fresh start.  Replace negativity with positivity.  Think happy thoughts.  Exercise.  Drink lots of water.  Fill your body with fuel.  Healthy is happy.  Inspire yourself.  Create.  Laugh.  Play.  Love.  Learn.  Give someone a compliment.  Perform a random act of kindness.  Take a chance on an idea you believe in.  You have the opportunity to do these things every single day – to make the necessary changes and slowly become the person you want to be.  You just have to decide to do it.  Decide that today is the day.  Say it: “This is going to be my day!”

how to BECOME MORE OPTIMISTIC

Diposting oleh Unknown di 13.30 0 komentar

Optimism is essential for achievement and it is also the foundation of courage and true progress.
~ Nicholas Murray Butler

I just love the 7 days 7 ways features in the Body and Soul lift out with the Sunday Telegraph. How to become more Optimistic is to help make you realise that anything is possible. I often use these suggestions for my daughters as well as myself.

Pinned Image

1. Surround yourself with positive attitudes. A pessimistic outlook is easy to pick up on, so distance yourself from negative people. When you adopt a more positive way of life, you will start recognising all the good that does happen to you.

2. Avoid over thinking everything. (I over think all the time). As soon as a problem presents itself, focus your thoughts on a solution. You can only think about one thing at a time, so if you focus on solutions, the problem often rectifies itself quite quickly.

3. Be proactive. Start thinking about ways to turn negative situations around. There is a saying that goes: ' If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.' It is often as simple as that.

4.Use positive affirmations. Write phrases on post it notes such as 'anything is possible'. and 'I choose to think positive thoughts' and put them on your bathroom mirror or a cupboard door. Your thoughts will soon reflect the affirmations you read.

5. Remember the past does not equal the future. If you have experienced sadness or failure in the past, it does not mean you will go through life feeling constantly disappointed. Look at minor let-downs as lessons to prosper from.

6. Exude confidence on the outside and your brain will follow suit. People who are confident stand up straight, walk a little faster than others and take bigger steps. Try doing this too and see how quickly your mood changes.

7. Speak in a positive tone. Ever been in a slump at work bit forced yourself to speak cheerfully to a customer or your boss? Your bad mood went out the window, right? Use a positive tone at all times and you will be instantly lifted.

All these tips are helping me right now as I am facing some personal turmoil myself and a relationship breakdown. Optimism is perfect for my thought process at the moment as I am trying my best to remain optimistic in a bad situation. How do you stay optimistic when things are tough?
